Importance of murshid
"Fasting and nocturnal prayers, though voluntary, if done without conforming to the advice and instruction of the spiritual guide (Murshid) are ineffective, even if performed more frequently than what the guide advises"
Yahyâ bin Muâz stated that "Whoever attains the company (sohbetine kavuşan) of the saints is rescued from the hands of Satan"
A fully qualified guide is called a Murshid-i kâmil (perfected guide).
Saints have described that no one can actually lift the veil and reach Allah without a murshid everyone had one during the old times and was more easy to find great murshids even IT had in his life.
Saints have described him as someone who cures the heart and his spiritual authority is that he just puts his gaze on someone and that person's life changes some become Saints just by his gaze.
Imam Ghazali said in inhya 43 page i think:
"Imagine the maqam of the one who himself has reached Allah and also take others towards Allah."
Mujaddid Alif Thani (Imam Rabbani) said:
"Those who love their murshid more get more feyz (grace) from them."
And let me explain this through analogy it will make things easier:
Consider the spiritual journey as climbing a sheer mountain cliff. Spiritual knowledge and proximity to Allah are at the summit. While sheer muscle (personal effort/reading books) might get a person partway up, the murshid acts as an experienced mountain guide and rope system. The guide chooses the safest route, secures the rope (spiritual chain or sisila) back to the Prophet ﷺ, provides crucial aid (feyz), and prevents fatal falls (misguided actions or the deception of the ego, which is Satan's influence). Without the rope and the experienced guide, reaching the highest point is nearly impossible, and a fall is almost guaranteed.
Imam Rabbani also said:
"Those who anger make their murshids angry or disrespect them are destined to remain astray from guideness and even if they keep doing constant dhikr that won't benefit them."
Behâeddîn Buhârî said:
"We are the means to reach the goal. It is not possible to reach the goal without Allah's help and without a guide"
Ahmed Cezerî highlighted this regardless of one's learned knowledge, a spiritual guide is essential, stating:
"We are not ordinary people, we are among the muftis of the time. Nevertheless, it is necessary for a mürşid-i kâmil to hold our hand (we need this)... Two eyes are blind yet he does not follow a guide. Although a blind person may perform tawaf (circumambulation) of the Kaaba without a guide, he cannot see the Black Stone (he cannot reach the goal)".
The veil cannot get off from our eyes until we get a murshid.
Khidr allowing someone to look through his ability of sight.
That man was about to go crazy when he allowed him to look through that sight because when the veil is lifted then we see the haqiqah.
